Charlotte Johanssen develops a crush on him. She calls him nice with red hair and blue eyes. Charlotte says Bruce hates girls, but she knows he doesn’t. His friend George told her he doesn’t. Charlotte wrote him a poem and Bruce started to like her back.
However, she decides that she doesn't like him anymore. Bruce came to her house and keeps following her. Dr. Johanssen said he stood under her window and started yelling, ‘Roses are red, red’s the same as scarlet; Sugar’s sweet, and so is Charlotte,’ over and over at the top of his lungs.
Charlotte hid from him going to the Pike's house through the back door and helped with their play.
By the end of the book he ended up liking Diane Dumschat, another girl in his class.
In Stacey the Math Whiz, Bruce participates in the math fair. He has the same kind of booth as Charlotte Johanssen and Haley Braddock. They have the same tricks and Stacey McGill helps make their booth better then Bruce's.
