Claudia and the New Girl is a graphic novel made by Gabriela Epstein and the 9th installment of the BSC Graphic Novels that was published on February 2nd, 2021. It is based on the original novel Claudia and the New Girl and is the second book Claudia narrates. This is the first BSC Graphic Novel written and illustrated by Epstein.
Back Cover Summary
Claudia has always been the most creative kid in her class...until Ashley Wyeth comes along. Ashley's really different: She wears hippie clothes and has multiple earrings, and she's the most fantastic artist Claudia has ever met.
Ashley says Claudia is a great artist, too, but thinks she's wasting her artistic talent with the Baby-Sitters Club. When Claudia starts spending more time with Ashley and missing BSC meetings, it becomes clear that Claudia has to make a decision - one of them has to go!
Plot
Differences between the book and graphic novel
- Ashley has blue hair and eyes and is black.
- The Rodowkys don't have reddish brown hair.
- Sitting jobs don't include the Perkins.
- When Claudia says she is going to be late for a meeting, she uses Ashley's phone (a cell phone) to call Dawn. The cell phone was used to make it look like the story takes place in the late 2000s or 2010s and to make it look like "the modern days". In the original novel, she used a pay phone (it is still used today).
