Christopher "Ducky" McCrae is sixteen years old and a sophomore at Vista Private School in Palo City, California. Ducky's first appearance is in Dawn (California Diaries) and he narrates the California Diaries books Ducky, Ducky, Diary Two, Ducky, Diary Three. He is mentioned in the main series in, The Secret Life of Mary Anne Spier, when Dawn buys him a print of some ducks for Christmas.

Appearance and Personality[]

He is sensitive, thoughtful, and funny, and would do anything for a friend (mostly this consists of giving them rides in his car). In the series, he is very good at giving advice, and often acts as a confidante for his younger female friends. In his own books, Ducky is also shown to be insecure and often unhappy.

In Sunny (California Diaries), Sunny narrates that he has large and dark beautiful eyes. In Ducky, Diary Two he says that he has dark hair and nondescript looking.

Biography[]

Most of his close friends are thirteen-year-old girls, including Sunny Winslow, Dawn Schafer, Maggie Blume, and Amalia Vargas. He recognizes Dawn and Amalia from study hall, he later offers the girls a ride home after a party. Ducky knew the party was a prank for the eighth graders to get caught by the police while the party was held. He was aware the party was going to be at an empty house

His best friends used to be Alex and Jason, but Alex is hard to stay close to due to his depression and Jason, who now goes by "Jay", became a macho jock and doesn't have much in common with Ducky anymore.

Ducky's parents travel often for humanitarian work, particularly in Africa, leaving Ducky and his older brother, Ted, alone in the house for months at a time. Ted is twenty and a junior at Palo Tech and commutes to school.
