Franchise and Event Timeline

This is a timeline of important events, book series, media, and merchandise released in the BSC Franchise from the conception of the original book series in 1985 until the most recent release of the Netflix TV series.

1985[]

Scholastic Editor Jean Feiwel shares the idea of the Baby-sitters Club with author Ann M. Martin, and Martin signs on to make a four-book series.

1986[]

The first Baby-sitters Club book, Kristy's Great Idea is published.

1988[]

The BSC books are released monthly for the first time.

1989[]

January - Book 20 is the last book edited by Brenda Bowen. Bethany Buck takes over editing duties from Bowen.
August - 1990 BSC calendar released
The Baby-Sitters Club Game board game released
BSC Fan Club is launched

1990[]

Ann M. Martin starts the Ann M. Martin foundation, which benefits children, education, literacy programs, homeless people, and animals. Many pieces of BSC merchandise mention that a portion of proceeds of sales will benefit this foundation.
The TV series (1990) is first available on video.
August - The 1991 BSC calendar is released.

1991[]

Spring - the TV series (1990) premieres on HBO
Seven paired Remco BSC dolls, featuring a baby-sitters and her favorite charge, are released
August - 1992 BSC calendar released
August - First Mystery series novel, Stacey and the Missing Ring released
BSC Topps cards released
Four BSC Puzzles released by Milton Bradley

1992[]

The Baby-Sitters Club Mystery Game released
Four paired and one eight-doll set of Remco BSC dolls are released with new face molds and accessories
Karen Brewer plush doll released by Determined Productions
August - 1993 BSC calendar released
November - Ann, her editor Bethany, and members of the cast of the TV series ride in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
October - BSC Album Songs for My Best Friends

1993[]

The TV series (1990) is re-released on VHS under the KidVision label
Seven 18 inch Kenner BSC dolls, with corresponding Mini Books, are released
August - 1994 BSC calendar released
A BSC conference on Prodigy is available for fans to read new info about the series and chat with other fans
September - The Baby-Sitters Club Chain Letter published

1994[]

February-May - 1994 BSC World Tour is held at malls nationwide. It is kicked off by the opening of the BSC Boutique in FAO Schwarz in New York City
July and December - First two Audio Books on Cassette Tape released by TW Kids
October - The first issue of G*I*R*L magazine, which has previews of upcoming BSC books, is published
October - The Baby-Sitters Club Secret Santa published
Original iteration of the Baby-sitters Collectors Club ends
Karen's Clubhouse fan club available for Little Sister fans

1995[]

March - BSC Mall Tour begins
Friends Forever USA Tour begins with the movie premiere, and continues across the US
BSC Movie released in theaters
September - BSC books have an all new look, starting with book #89, and previous books are reprinted in the new style
Last four Audio Books on Cassette Tape released by TW Kids
Name the Twins contest is held to name the characters who eventually become Anna and Abby Stevenson, who are introduced in book #89.

1996[]

Fall - BSC Website at www.scholastic.com/babysittersclub is launched
Fall - the first CD-ROM game, The Baby-Sitters Club Friendship Kit is released
Martin's cats Mouse and Rosie, mentioned in her bio at the end of every BSC book, have died

1997[]

August - California Diaries series debuts
Second CD-ROM game Clubhouse Activity Center released
Reprint iteration of the Baby-sitters Collectors Club begins

1998[]

February - starting with Mystery #33, Stacey and the Stolen Hearts, the BSC Mysteries get a new design
Last two CD-ROM games, 3rd Grade Learning Adventures and 4th Grade Learning Adventures are released
Four small size Kenner BSC dolls are released

1999[]

May - Last book of the main BSC series, #131 The Fire at Mary Anne's House is published
July - the Friends Forever series begins with Everything Changes

2000[]

November - the last Friends Forever book, Graduation Day is published

2001[]

Three BSC books and seven Little Sister books get reprinted in a new style

2006[]

April - First black and white graphic novel, illustrated by Raina Telgemeier is published

2010[]

April - The Summer Before, the first new BSC book since 2000 is published. Books #1-8 are republished with new covers and text modified was more up-to-date

2012[]

Scholastic starts to release BSC eBooks

2015[]

April - First full color graphic novel, illustrated by Raina Telgemeier is published. Full color graphic novels of new titles continue was published.

2017[]

First graphic novel illustrated by Gale Galligan, Dawn and the Impossible Three (Graphic Novel), is published.

2019[]

All main series BSC Books are released on Audible as audiobooks narrated by Elle Fanning
First Baby-sitters Little Sister graphic novel, Karen's Witch published

2020[]

March - The Claudia Kishi Club released on Netflix
June 30, 2020 - Henry R. Martin, father of Ann M. Martin and illustrator of New York, New York! dies at 94
July - The Baby-Sitters Club (Netflix series) Season 1 released on Netflix, Karen's Roller Skates graphic novel released
September 2020 - Logan Likes Mary Anne! graphic novel released
October 29, 2020 - The Baby-Sitters Club (Netflix series) is getting a season 2
December 2020 - Karen's Worst Day graphic novel released
Books #1-13 rereleased with new covers, to coincide with the Netflix series

2021[]

BSC books #14-18 and BLS books #1-6 rereleased with new covers
First graphic novels illustrated by Gabriela Epstein (#9) and Chan Chau (#10) published
February 2021 - Claudia and the New Girl graphic novel released
March 2021 - Kyndra Sanchez joins "The Baby-Sitters Club" Season 2 as Dawn Schafer, replacing Xochitl Gomez. [1]. Filming for season 2 also starts.
April 28, 2021 - Production ends on Season 2 of The Baby-Sitters Club (Netflix series)[2]
May 2021 - reprint of Jessi's Secret Language released
July 2021 - Sophie Grace wins an Emmy outstanding younger performer in a children’s program for playing as Kristy Thomas, We Are the Baby-Sitters Club: Essays and Artwork from Grown-Up Readers, Karen's Kittycat Club graphic novel and reprints of Karen's Witch, Karen's Roller Skates, Karen's Worst Day, Karen's Kittycat Club was released.
August 2021 - reprint of Mary Anne's Bad-Luck Mystery released
September 2021 - Kristy and the Snobs graphic novel released
October 2021 - reprint of Karen's School Picture was released. All eight episodes of the Netflix Series season 2 released on October 11.
November 2021 - reprint of Stacey's Mistake released.
December 2021 - reprint of Karen's Little Sister released

2022[]

February 2022 - reprint of Karen's Birthday and Claudia and the Bad Joke was released and graphic novels of Good-bye Stacey, Good-bye and Karen's School Picture was released
April 2022 - reprint of Karen's Haircut was released
May 2022 - reprint of Kristy and the Walking Disaster and Baby-sitters on Board! was released.
June 2022 - reprint of Karen's Sleepover was released.
July 2022 - reprint of Mallory and the Trouble with Twins was released.
August 2022 - reprint of Karen's Grandmothers was released.

2023[]

January 2023 - Karen's Birthday released as a Little Sister graphic novel.
February 2023 - Reprint of Dawn on the Coast was released
April 2023 - Reprint of Kristy and the Mother's Day Surprise and Karen's Ghost was released.
May 2023 - Reprint of Mary Anne and the Search for Tigger was released.
July 2023 - Reprint of Baby-sitters' Summer Vacation and Karen's Haircut (Graphic Novel) and The Baby-sitters Club: The Official Coloring Book was released.
September 2023 - Reprint of Claudia and the Sad Good-bye was released.
October 2023 - Stacey’s Mistake (Graphic Novel) and the reprint of Karen's Surprise was released.
December 2023 - The reprint of Karen's New Year and Claudia and the Bad Joke (Graphic Novel) were released.

2024[]

January 2024 - Reprint of Jessi and the Superbrat was released.
May 2024 - Reprint of Welcome Back, Stacey! and Karen's Sleepover was released
September 2024 - Kristy and the Walking Disaster and the reprint of Mallory and the Mystery Diary was released.
October 2024 - Karen's Grandmothers (Graphic Novel) was released.
November 2024 - The reprint of Karen's in Love was released.

2025[]

March 2025 - The reprint of Karen's Goldfish and Mary Anne and the Great Romance was released. Mallory and the Trouble with Twins was released as a graphic novel.
April 2025 - Karen's Prize was released as a Little Sister graphic novel.
May 2025 - Karen's Ghost was released as a Little Sister graphic novel.
June 2025 - The reprint of Dawn's Wicked Stepsister was released.
September 2025 - The reprint of Karen's Brothers.
October 2025 - Jessi Ramsey, Pet-sitter to be released as a graphic novel.
