The Baby-Sitters Club Wiki

The Johanssen Family is a client of the Baby-sitters Club and includes eight-year-old Charlotte Johanssen. They live in Stoneybrook, CT on Kimball Street.

Mr. Johanssen was the first to call the BSC in Kristy's Great Idea. Kristy Thomas was the first to sit for Charlotte. Stacey is Charlotte's favorite sitter and usually sits for her.

The family has lived in Stoneybrook for generations dating back to Charlotte's great-grandparents. The Johanssen family along the paternal line is Danish American with German cousins mentioned in Mary Anne and the Secret in the Attic.

Charlotte's family goes back to France with Dr. Johanssen's sister, Nell in Stacey and the Mystery at the Empty House.

In Stacey and the Mystery of Stoneybrook, it's mentioned that they don't have any family in Stoneybrook. Mr. Johanssen's father has to be surgery in the same book. Peggy and Mr. Johanssen go to see him and leave Charlotte to be watched by Stacey McGill for a week.

Charlotte mentions that she moved once when she was two in Good-bye Stacey, Good-bye, and doesn't remember it.

In Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls it's mentioned by Claudia that the BSC sees Mr. Johanssen more then his wife.

The family joins The Greenbrook Club in Abby and the Secret Society. Dr. Johanssen likes to play tennis and plays in the summer.

She lives around the corner from Jessi, you can see the back of her house from the Johanssens' in Jessi's Baby-sitter. However, in Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls, it's mentioned to be two doors over behind them.

The house sits squarely in its corner lot with a crab-apple tree in its front yard and a welcoming dried-flower wreath on the front door. There's a flag stone walk and a red mailbox with a painting of a white duck on it. A white picket fence surrounding the yard in.

To reach the living room you walk out of the kitchen and through the dining room, turn right, go past the front door and the center hallway (where the stairs are), and turn right into the living room. All the rooms have white walls and pretty wood floors with richly colored Oriental rugs here and there. The kitchen has dark blue tiled floor. None of the room are big, but they're all cozy and comfortable. The living room has two overstuffed couches and a comfy chairs that face both the fireplace and a gorgeous cabinet next to it that holds the TV and stereo in Stacey and the Mystery at the Empty House.

There's a back door just off the kitchen as mentioned in Jessi's Horrible Prank.

Charlotte stores her portable electric piano in the living room in Stacey vs. the BSC. There's also a set of shelves in the den.

There's a basement mentioned in Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls.

There's a lamp post outside the front of their house as mentioned by Stacey in Welcome Back, Stacey!.
