Kristy's Big Day is the sixth book in the BSC Graphic Novels series. It is an adaptation of the original novel Kristy's Big Day.

Back Cover Summary

Kristy's mom is getting married, and Kristy is going to be a bridesmaid! The only problem? Fourteen kids are coming to town for the wedding. Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne, Stacey, Dawn and Mallory think they can handle it, but that's before they spend a week changing diapers, stopping arguments, solving mix-ups, and planning activities. It's the biggest job the BSC has ever had, but they'll work together to make sure Kristy's big day is a success!

Differences Between The Book and Graphic Novel

• The price of inflation is addressed. In Chapter 4 of the graphic novel, Kristy's mom offers "double the usual club rate" for the BSC to babysit the 14 children over 5 days for 8 hours a day. In the novels, the actual monetary value is quoted. However, inflation has devalued the dollar over the years due to the cost of living increasing, resulting in the different editions listing different values. The original edition reads "[t]hat's three dollars an hour apiece, which comes to a hundred and twenty dollars for each of you for the week"; the 2020 edition reads "[t]hat comes to two hundred dollars for each of you for the week." In the 2018 Graphic Novel, the actual hourly rate is avoided altogether thus avoiding future increases; Kristy instead says it's twice their usual rates in Chapter 5. This doesn't seem as dramatic as two hundred dollars each (thus making it so the club would earn a thousand dollars altogether, or more with Mallory).
• Mallory is now one of the helping sitters as she joined the club in the prior book, Dawn and the Impossible Three. To preserve the original groups where she wasn't included, she instead helps Kristy with her group and whenever Kristy has to be whisked away for wedding arrangements, Mallory takes over solo. In the original novel since Mallory wasn't a member at the time (she was only 10 and still treated as a sitting charge), Claudia took care of Kristy's group as well as her own while she was away.
• Watson is said to not want Elizabeth and her kids to move in with him until after he and Elizabeth are married because his parents (Neena and Grandpa Brewer) are very religious, and he didn't want to upset them (implying they are alive). In the Baby-Sitters Little Sister book Karen's Ghost Karen says her paternal grandfather, Jeremy Brewer, died before she was born.
• Jamie Newton doesn't attend the wedding but is baby-sat during their large sitting task and thus included.
• Richard Spier and Sharon Schafer attend the wedding.
• When Stacey and her group are at the movie theater to see Mary Poppins and Emma forgets her money, Stacey uses her own phone (a cell phone) to call Kristy's house to see if someone could find Emma's money and drive it over. In the original novel, she uses a pay phone, as cell phones were not nearly as widespread.

Trivia

• The events are referenced in Stacey's Mistake when Stacey tries to convince her mother to invite the BSC to help out sitting the ten children in her apartment building.
