Kristy's Book is the fifth of the six Portrait Collection books published by Scholastic from 1994-1997.
Back Cover Summary[]
At last it's my turn to write about my favorite subject — me! Everyone else has complained about writing their autobiographies, but I've been looking forward to it. It's a chance fore me to think about all the things that have happened in my short but incredible life. Some were happy, some were sad, some were funny. For instance, I was almost born in Yankee Stadium! Maybe that's why I like softball so much. And look at all the changes my family has been through, starting with my parents' divorce, and ending with the time I finally saw my father again, seven years later. See what I mean? My short (so far) but incredible life. Who knows where I'll go from here? There's always the White House...

Continuity and Inconsistencies[]
Continuity
- In Stacey McGill... Matchmaker? and BSC in the USA, Patrick’s returning to Stoneybrook is briefly mentioned.
Inconsistencies - Incorrectly regarded as Inconsistencies
- In the birth announcement baseball card pictured on page 15, it says that Kristy's height at birth is 1'9. At birth babies are measured in inches, so she should be announced as 21 inches long. This is a spoof on how a baseball players stats would be listed; this isn't an inconsistency.
- On page 58, Elizabeth enrolled David Michael in a day-care between Stoneybrook and Stamford. In Jessi's Wish, Kristy says that David Michael went to the Stoneybrook Day Care Center. David Michael could have gone to several different day care centers all between Stoneybrook and Stamford. The one in Jessi's Wish and in Kristy's Book could be any one of several that Kristy's mom chose at some point before he started school. This isn't an inconsistency.
Inconsistency
- Mary Anne sends Kristy a postcard from the shore, and it's postmarked New Jersey, but in Boy-Crazy Stacey, Mary Anne says she's never been down the Jersey shore.
Trivia[]
- In chapter 1, Sam is mentioned to be baby-sitting to be helping David Michael with his softball.
- Kristy was active as a baby.
- Kristy was already friends with Claudia and Mary Anne since before she was five years old.
- Mary Anne was afraid of escalators when she was five.
- Kristy writes her autobiography in one weekend. She starts on Saturday morning and finishes Sunday night.
- Kristy gets a "B+" on her assignment.
- Sam and Charlie wouldn't play with Kristy on the playground when they went to elementary school together.
- Car Man is a made up super hero movie that everyone sees.
- Claudia started collecting snacks by the time she was six.
- When Kristy was ten, she said that her father had sent some money every once in a while.
- Sitting jobs arranged but never seen: Mary Anne for Charlotte, and Kristy's siblings, and Kristy for the Rodowskys.
- Patrick taught Kristy how to play Hearts on a picnic at the river and went bowling in Stamford.
- It's been mentioned that the plot to The Babysitter's Club: The Movie (1995) isn't from one book in the series, but parts of different books. The last couple of chapters here seem very similar to The Movie's plot- about Kristy's father Patrick coming to visit and asking Kristy to lie about that, only telling Mary Anne, and again leaving with no notice.
