Back Cover Summary[]

Even though Cokie Mason has never been nice to her, Mary Anne has always tried to be nice to Cokie. But this time Cokie's gone too far. Mary Anne isn't going to sit back and take it anymore. She's going to have her revenge — with a little help from her friends.

Cokie Mason thinks she can be Queen of Mean. But now, Mary Anne's going to show her the price of not being nice.

Summary[]

Logan told Mary Anne in private that he's dating Dorianne Wallingford, which his brother and sister hate, and Mary Anne's okay with that, while Logan thinks she's dating Dave Griffin. But Cokie Mason spreads rumors about Logan and Mary Anne, and Mary Anne gets back at her now.

Continuity and Inconsistencies[]

Continuity

  • Kristy remembers her "initiation" into the softball team on page 78.

Inconsistencies

  • Mary Anne isn't into sports but knows what a fullback in soccer is on page 7.
  • Sharon remarks that "you should have seen me when I was thirteen" to Richard, however, in Stacey and the Haunted Masquerade they did know each other when they were thirteen. Since it's also established that neither of them remember middle school that well and Sharon is very scatterbrained in general, it's entirely possible she just forgot.
  • Mary Anne says that she doesn't have Cokie's address when she was at her house in Mary Anne Misses Logan.
  • Cokie's house is noted to be small in Mary Anne Misses Logan but she narrates here that it's pretty big. It's possible that the Masons' moved to a different neighborhood sometime between the books, which would explain both of these.

Trivia[]

  • This is the second time Mary Anne has been to Cokie's house, the first was in Mary Anne Misses Logan.
  • Mary Anne had nightmares about the fire.
  • Richard has trouble sleeping since the fire. He watches old movies on TV and walks around the house making sure his family is safe.
  • Mary Anne joined the yearbook staff with Abby.
  • It's always an adventure when Sharon cooks according to Richard.
  • Karen's having a sleepover in chapter 5.
  • Logan is spending time with Dorianne Wallingford. He tells Mary Anne that he's not yet sure whether it's just friendship or something more.
  • Kristy calls Cary Retlin a master of practical jokes and diabolical schemes and a sneaky clever person.
  • Cary and Mary Anne become friends.
  • Sharon keeps beating Richard at Scrabble.
