Mary Anne Saves the Day is the third book in the BSC Graphic Novels series. It is based on the original novel Mary Anne Saves the Day. While the original novel is the fourth in the series, the graphic novel is the third because Raina Telgemeier chose to skip the second book in the original series.

When The Baby-sitters Club gets into a huge fight, Mary Anne is left to her own devices. She has to eat by herself in the school cafeteria, figure out how to make new friends, and deal with her overprotective father. But the worst happens when she finds herself in a baby-sitting emergency and can't turn to her friends for help. Will Mary Anne solve her problems and save The Baby-sitters Club from falling apart?
Summary
The Baby-Sitters Club gets into a fight, leaving Mary Anne by herself. She is all alone, until she meets Dawn Schafer, the new girl from California. The two become best friends, making Kristy feel a little jealous. It's all going okay until Mary Anne finds herself in an emergency when she is sitting for Jenny Prezzioso, a spoiled brat. Jenny has a really high fever of 104 degrees. Panicked, Mary Anne turns to Dawn to help. Jenny is sent to hospital where she is diagnosed with strep throat. Jenny eventually feels better, so Dawn and Mary Anne head home. They hang out at Mary Anne's house for a while until Dawn realizes that Mary Anne lied to her about her friends being absent. Mary Anne is still upset that evening. Mr. Spier gets a phone call from the Prezziosos saying that Mary Anne did a great job when Jenny got sick. Mr. Spier is proud of Mary Anne and lets her stay up later while baby-sitting and wear her hair loose. On Monday Mary Anne apologizes to Dawn, and they are friends again. But then all the members of the Baby-Sitters Club end up being helpers for Jamie Newton's fourth birthday party. It is a disaster. But at an emergency meeting after the party all the members apologize. A few days later they have a pizza party (with Dawn) and Dawn becomes an official member of the Baby-Sitters Club.
Differences between the book and graphic novel
- Mary Anne babysat for Jenny twice in the book. In the graphic novel, she and Stacey babysit for Jenny.
- Mrs. Schafer took Jeff to Washington Mall in the book; the name of the mall wasn't mentioned in the graphic novel.
- After a fight with Dawn, Mary Anne goes to the grave of her mother (Presumably in Stoneybrook Cemetery). In the book, she stayed home.
