Mathew Hobart is a six year old BSC charge. He is the younger brother of Ben Hobart and James Hobart and the older brother of Johnny Hobart. Mathew is a member of the Hobart Family.

Like his brothers he has reddish-blonde hair, round face, and a few freckles on his face.
Biography[]
Mathew wants to be in a regular race at the Mini-Olympics run by the BSC in Jessi's Gold Medal.
He plays the violin and plays it in the All the Children of the World band that the BSC creates for their clients.
Mathew spends the night at the Pike House during the "brother trade" in Mallory Hates Boys (and Gym). He, James, and Johnny act out of control for Mallory. They switch back by the end of the book.
Mathew had a small crush on Mary Anne Spier in Stacey and the Stolen Hearts. He had made her a Valentine's Day festival at the library. He agreed to share being her Valentine with Logan Bruno.

- He goes to the Valentine's Masquerade Party in Stacey's Ex-Best Friend with his family.
- In Mary Anne and the Library Mystery Mathew wins the readathon in the first grade category.
- He learned how to ride a bicycle in Mary Anne to the Rescue.
- He was the lead in his class play in Dawn and the Older Boy.
- Mathew admitted to teasing a kid at his old school in Logan's Story, but doesn't do it anymore.
