McKenzie Clarke is an artist that only appears in New York, New York!. Both Mallory and Claudia attend his class while on vacation.

Biography[]

McKenzie starts the first class asking his students to draw a stack of boxes that he piled in the middle of the room. This activity is intended to teach dimension and perspective while drawing. He circles around the class and talks to each student one on one. He tells Claudia that she works too quickly and needs to focus more when she sketches, saying that she’s undisciplined and distractible. However, he also tells her that she’s very gifted despite being so young.

He enjoys talking to Mallory about books and she tells him what she’s been reading. He says that she’s very focused and a good artist, but doesn’t have Claudia’s talent. Mac tells her that if she keeps drawing she’ll be a good enough to illustrate.

  • McKenzie Clarke was not at all what Claudia was expecting. He was short and slim and wore thick glasses and seemed quite serious.
