Mr. Homer Langley is an elderly man who lives in Stoneybrook, CT. He is only seen in Claudia and the Lighthouse Ghost.

Biography[]

Mr. Langley is shown to be rather bitter toward Alex Hatt. Alex says that he’s disturbed and he makes Claudia’s skin crawl.  He had a fight with Alex about the lighthouse property. The property was deeded to his grandfather years ago and passed it down to him. Homer put up a legal battle for the property and lost.

His son, Sixteen-year-old Adrian Langley, wanted to join a gang. As part of their initiation ritual, he was sent to the lighthouse to find a secret message. While he was looking for the message, the gang locked the front door. Since Adrian had severe claustrophobia he jumped from the top of the lighthouse to get out. Alex Hatt rescued him from the water, but Adrian died three days later in Stoneybrook General Hospital from head trauma and overexposure.

Since Mr. Langley didn’t know about this he blamed Alex Hatt. He blamed Alex for locking up the lighthouse without checking inside first. Thus, leaving his son to die when he jumped out of the lighthouse.

Mr. Langley tried to break up the party that was being held at the lighthouse. After it was revealed Alex had nothing to do with his sons death, he and Alex had a long talk at the end of the book.
