Robert Bennett, known to students as Mr. Bennett, is a children's book author and artist who visits Ms. Colman's second grade class on Author Day. He only appears in the book The Kids in Ms. Colman's Class #2 Author Day.

Appearance[]

He is tall, has a beard, and carries a briefcase. On Author Day, he wears blue jeans, a white shirt, and a necktie.

Biography[]

Mr. Bennett is an author who wrote the book Sloppy Sam, which is student Ricky Torres's favorite book. Robert had written it when he was 27. He draws the pictures for the books he writes. He also wrote 17 other books including Awful Alligators, and will soon publish Cosmic Kitten.

He visit Ms. Colman's class on Author Day. Before he visits, the kids write letters to him. The kids perform the play Juicy Lucy, written by Ricky Torres and illustrated by Natalie Springer, for him.

Mr. Bennett meets the class pet Hootie, shows the kids his illustrations for Cosmic Kitten, answers the kids' questions, and draws a new character the kids create by asking the kids what the character looks like. He draws a monkey with a poofy tail and horse hooves, who wears a hat and lives in the castle. The kids name this character Popcorn.

He left his briefcase behind in the library, and Ricky manages to catch him before he leaves the school. He signs a copy of Sloppy Sam for Ricky. He owns and drives an orange Volkswagon.
