Stacey's different... and it's harder on her than anyone knows.

The Truth About Stacey is the third book in The Baby-Sitter's Club series by Ann M. Martin. Stacey's parents have been making a big deal over her diabetes and worrying about her too much and Stacey has to figure out how to tell them she can look after her diabetes herself.

Summary

The Truth About Stacey is the third book in The Baby Sitters Club series, which focuses mainly on Stacey's diabetes.

Main Plot

Stacey McGill was having health problems when she first found out she had diabetes a while she was in New York City. She fainted in school and was carried away on a stretcher in an ambulance, wet the bed at a sleepover while sharing a bed with her best friend Laine Cummings, and more. Her friends became former friends and Laine convinced everyone that Stacey was contagious. Stacey was alone and friendless. Her parents moved her to a new place (Stoneybrook) for a fresh start. Stacey's parents soon became super protective of Stacey, taking her to new doctors and making everyone suspicious. Stacey was missing school and was watched like a hawk. Stacey soon has to figure out who to turn to for help.

Sub Plot

The Baby Sitters Club has a situation : A big group of older kids have started a baby sitting business copying the BSC! The other sitters can stay out later and offer a range of ages, unlike the BSC, with only 13 year olds! They are losing clients fast! What can they do? It's officially a war : The Baby Sitters Club Vs. The Baby Sitters Agency! Who will be victorious? This is WAR!

Back Cover

The truth about Stacey is that she has diabetes. Nobody knows... except her friends in the Baby-sitters Club.

But even they don't know the real truth about Stacey. Stacey's parents are her bigger problem. They won't recognize what she's going through, leaving her feeling more alone then ever.

Stacey's not going to let her parents — or her diabetes — get in the way of her life. Especially now— when the Baby-sitters Club needs her more than ever!
